  1. I have been involved in Assessment work since 2006 and while we guide the candidates to prepare an Individual Development Plan, we look for areas of development. These are competencies where the scores are below the benchmark. Basically, we are asking the candidate to improve his area of weakness.

I believe this needs to be examined through a discussion amongst this forum. Let me explain:

Prof Martin Seligman from Upenn says that there is a difference between talents, which we are born with and which we are therefore automatically good at, and strengths, which we CHOOSE OR PREFER to develop. If will and determination are applied to our talent, we have pride in our accomplishments.

Through refinements of our 'signature strenghs' we gain satisfaction in life, and happiness that is genuine. It is a mistake to spend our life trying to correct our weaknesses. Rather, the most success in life and real gratification - authentic happiness - comes from developing our strengths.
